Default Should I get a 00-01 Audi A4? Your opinions are greatly appreciated...

This may be my first audi. I Would really love to get a 2000-2001 audi a4 manual v6. But I keep hearing that the parts are extremely expensive and they have a ton of problems. So i figure why not ask audi owners. Please give me some insight of what I am going to get myself into. I really like the cars, but dont want to have it in the shop more than on the road. Anyone who knows about these cars, can you please offer some insight?. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

If you are a former Honda, Nissan, or Toyota owner, you will most likely be surprised with the amount of maintenance & repair these cars require. If you can deal with that, the driving experience of the German cars are far superior. I have a 99 A6 wagon and it has had a lot of work over the years. I bought it used and the best decision I made was purchasing the aftermarket warranty. If you go ahead with an Audi, I would recommend one.

I dont know about you guys, I have audi 90 1995 V6. The amount of work done over my car is very little. And parts are not as expensive as I thought. Most guys here and gals, that have problem with there cars. and by the look of it, its not that crowded as on Honda, Mazda or Toyota forums. I have a blast with my car, its fast, slugish off the line, hold the road stable, responsive, freaking freazer as AC. I dont know as other guys.

Basically, you need to put some money in for general maintainance, as oil and fuel, duhhh. but basically timing belt when time comes, dont let it rip. hmm thats it.

If the car has a provable maintenance history it will help. mcicoria hit it on the head! I put 9k of repairs in over three years on a 99 a6 2.8 with 70k mi. but the car had been neglected. My freinds called me crazy but if you drive alot (snowy climate a must) there is no substitute!
