how does SpeedTuning's 2.8 chip compare to GIAC's 2.8 offering?
I was going to buy myself a GIAC chip for christmas, but if this is a better chip, i'll go for this one

Looking at the dyno chartfrom speedtuning, the chip/flash will give the 2.8 a 20hp/29ft lb torque increase. According to GIAC, their 2.8 chip only gives a 6-9hp/6-9ft lb gain.

Serious how would you get 20hp out of that motor?

*shrugs shoulders* Dunno, but i'mwilling to find out. It's only $125 bucks....even if i get a little more torque out of the deal, i'd be more than happy.

Its probably possible. But I doubt those are the real world results. They would need to advance the timing a lot and use race gas under ideal conditions. Id LOVE to see someone with a 2.8 get dyno'd, then buy this chip and get dyno'd againand see what the gains really are. With those advertised gains, we should have lots of candidates.

well, as a college student, I dont really have the extra money laying around to "gamble" like that. I've read great reviews on the GIAC chip for the 2.8 and how it greatly helps to smooth out that "flat-spot" in the low RPM's. Not to mention that it does not impact the 2.8's known reliablility

But still, the price of $125 is compelling me to at least give it a shot

dyno's would be amazing... so would a 20hp gain!

Can you post his shop hours, location (directions)? If we've got 10, then i'd like to see about getting mine flashed on Saturday if he's open.
I will aks Oliver about his hours today when I meet with him (around noon). Directions are simple for you Jeff.

Take 70

to 29 South
to 198 (spencerville rd.)West, towards Burtonsville.
stay on 198 for about 2 miles and the shop is on your left hand side, behind a beer/liquor store.

It's kind of tough to spot, look for it after you pass Peach Orchard road with a flashing yellow light.

ok guys the money and info is in! Oh, and my car is chipped....and the butt dyno says it did it's job! A couple others (B6 A4 and a TT) met me there today and had their cars done as well. They had the same verdict. So that's three of us so far who are quite pleased....

Go ahead and call or email Oliver at SpeedTuning to set up when you'd like to come in.... all of his contact info is on their site www.speedtuningusa.com . Please put your reviews of your chip once you get it on your car. That way this info will be available for others when they search in the future.

This group buy will be open for another month, until Dec. 23rd for the rest of you....
