To answer this for everyone else. After speaking with Oliver 99.5 and newer can be "flashed" meaning he hooks his computer up to your OBD port and re-maps everything from there. Those that are older than that will have an actual chip soldered to their ECU. The outcome is the same, same file, same price.

I finally got a chance after work to pull the cover off the ECU box and I got the P/N - 4B0 906 018P. Only now I have to wait untilFriday when the junk yardsare open again to call around andtry to locateaspare ECU.
Someonefrom a local tuning shoptold me over the phone that it might not be possible tosimply swap my ECU for another ECU of the samepart number - thatI might have problems like the car will crank but not start,it couldmess up the security system, radio codes stored in it, other options and settings might be different...
Anyoneelse heard ofany problems like this ona 2000 A4, engine code ATW? Anyone know first hand if any other ECUfrom a different year or with a different part # is compatable, or where tofind this?

being that i am the 10th and i just payed... everyone has paid and the payment he sed will be sent in like today. everything will be good to go and he will tell us when to send in the ECU's

Yeah well Oliver wont be in today, obviously. I will go to the shop tomorrow with the list and money, I'll post on here as well as email everyone who has paid once this happens. At that point you guys call all schedule when you would like to do your car with Oliver...
