RE: Sputtering at 1500-2000RPM
well, sort of... except it has nothing to do with what gear its in.... I can be in 6th gear going up a slight hill and it'll do it just as if it were in 1st just starting off. I'm pretty sure its not the tranny at this point.
I'm going to put a new fuel filter and maybe pump in this week and see if that helps anything.... I find it unusual that these two issues came up around the same time.

RE: Sputtering at 1500-2000RPM
Sorry to bring this up again, but the CEL light started coming on not too long after I made this last post. I pulled the code and it was the MAF sensor.
I took it out, cleaned it and that helped it but didn't totally solve the problem. Two weeks later the light came back, and I pulled the code again and it was the same. I ordered a new MAF sensor and put it in. The light is now off, but I'm still getting sputtering -- or something -- around 1700-1900 RPM.
I can't figure out what it is and it's really annoying. When it happens, although it's an automatic, it feels like the clutch is being engaged and the engine increases RPM for a split-second, then it jerks and it's back to normal.
Now, I have a CVT transmission which does have an automatic clutch. Could it be that? I would be surprised if it were something in the tranny, honestly, considering how much better the MAF sensor helped out.
This is very bizarre...
