Default steering help.....

96 2.8 140,000:

when i turn the steering wheel i get a loud noticable whinning noise, what could it be?

i would like to go to the mechanic with a little knowledge on my problem,

your power steering fluid could be low. I know fords make this noise very often and its a symptom of low fluid. check the level and get back to me.

If it a gringing/whine from the power steering pump, check the fluid level. If low, fill it with Pentosin 11S only (not power steering fluid, or transmission fluid)) and look for the leak.
