You can, although I wouldn't. Search for "high low converter" to find other posts that will help you decide.

Which approach - going to the head unit, or tapping off the stock amp?

get an RCA audio cable. cut off the ends of one side (so you'll have four exposed wires). splice one pair (+ and -) of wires with the "line level left rear" (+) and "line level common ground" (-), and the other pair with the "line level right rear" and line level common ground". because you have a common ground setup, you'll also need to buy a ground loop isolator. they can be found with RCA connections on ebay for 10 bucks. this is the wiring diagram for the cd changer harness....

so before i cut the line levels where do they go to? also once i cut them and atach the rca's to the pos. and neg. then i just run the rca's to my trunk then put int he ground loop isolater and then put the rca's coming out of the ground loop into my amp just like you would in a normal situation? thanks, and sorry if this sounds stupid..

Yup u got it right.. You arn't cutting the RCA's your cutting the other wires coming out of the LOC.. And dont run the groung from the LOC or else it will make a buzzing noise in your audi....Use trial and error.. if it makes a buzzing noise then you know what your problem is...

i have a powered sub (bazooka tube style)

i ran a power wire to the battery..installed a fuse
ran the switching power to the fuse panel so that the sub shuts on when the car goes off/turns on when the car power is turned on.

then i just tapped into my 2 rear deck speakers. boom, sounds great.

wrong, and wrong. sorry guys but you need to read the whole thread.

jereme, you don't need an LOC (line output converter) because you're tapping into low level lines. second, the harness from the diagram i posted above is in the trunk, so the only wire you have to run to the front will be the power wire. the remote (turn-on) wire and the speaker wires will all be in the trunk. don't cut the wires though, use wire taps and tap into them. cut the ends of an RCA cable off and stick some male spade connectors on the ends of the wires. insert the spade connectors into the wire taps. does that make sense?
