strange issue at 3k rpm

Default strange issue at 3k rpm

ok my car is in limp mode it was misfiring a bit ago and i just go my make shift ignition up (make shift ignition system: cut out my whole ignition system because all my wire were spliced and it wouldent start so i reinulated every wire with electrical tape) now it starts misfireing at around 3k i know im in limp mode because i boost only 5psi could limp mode be causing it?

Well did you fix your ignition wiring harness yet? If you have it wired wrong or have too much resistance in the circuit going to the coils it won't have enough spark to ignite the mixture at higher boost levels.
I would get a new engine wiring harness first and see what happens.

dealer wants 2k for a new harness and i found one at a junk yard for 250 but its for a atw

Of course it does, the turbo doesn't develop any boost in park. The larger the engine load the stronger the spark has to be.

You can use an automatic engine wiring harness just fine, just tape up the transmission connectors.

ATW is a 2000 A4 1.8T engine code, it has nothing to do with being an automatic/standard transmission.
What apr_a4 wants to know is if the ATW 2000 1.8Tharness will work on his 2001 A4 1.8T

the early 2001's had atw's too but i called up 888 vw part1 and they have one so im oredering tomarow having it shipped over night so i can have it ready for my ski trip saturday

Oh yeah the engine code, yeah you can use an ATW wiring harness just fine.
As long as its not a pre-00 that has an ICM (or power output stage) then its all good.
