Strange noise on start up
Recently when I start my car up, there is a loud clicking noise (sounds like when you were a kid andclipped a baseball card on the wheel of your bike and it made that whirring noise). Anyway, upon acceleration the noise is extremely faint, probably drowned out by the noise from the engine itself. My buddy said it sounded like a loose valve. I searched on these boards and I couldn't find anything about valves or valve problems, and usually when there is a problem, its easy to find on here. Any ideas, suggestions???? If it is a valve, how much do valve adjustments usually run??
Thanks in advance!

Probably not a valve, more like your hydraulic cam adjuster is shot.
Listen to the back of the motor, the cam adjuster is located at the back of the valve cover area.
If thats not where its coming from you might need cylinder head work.
