I have a 2001 A4 (automatic transmission). This weekend I when I was accelerating to get on highway, the RPMs kept going up and the automatic gears didn't shift down to reduce the RPMs. I ended up driving about 30MPH home on side roads to keep the RPMs down. Then when I started the car up again, everything is fine. The car shifts when the RPMs go up like normal.

No problems since. What is your gut feel on the risk of not getting it looked at now?
