Default Temp Sensor?

I read somewhere on here that temp sensors are common problems with these A4s and that they are a cheap fix. The article mentioned a$7 green topreplacement part. But didn't specify where to get it. I think I have a problem with my temp sensor as mine will go bone cold all the way up to normal temp then back down. It's crazy. So assuming I have the normal issue can anyone confirm this green top temp sensor and where I can pick one?

Thanks,
Mike

Dealership, they aren't that expensive. Yes it is a normal issue but luckily an easy fix.

You might need a different color. Even at the dealership they're around $20. It will cost you more than that at an online site due to shipping.Make sure you get the o-ring and clip. To change it out, you need to drain the coolant, otherwise it will get all over the place. Also, make sure the engine is cold.

PureMS sells them (they are not 7 bucks though).

???? You shouldnt have to drain the coolant.. For a thermostat, yes, but the ects is right on top of the engine. Make sure the engine is cold, and losen the coolant resevoir tank cap to make sure there is no pressure. You might lose a little coolant when taking the sensor out, but nothing significant.. Maybe a tablespoon.

Since the reseviour is higher than the temp sensor, the coolant will come out until it levels out.

I didnt have that problem when i replaced mine. The resevoir might be 3 inches higher than the sensor, so it certainly doesnt come shooting/pouring out at any rate that youd have to drain the coolant. A little coolant came out of the ects flange when i took my old one out, but it wasnt messy and the time it takes to swap the sensors is about 7 seconds so i really dont see the point in draining anything.
