i got a 97 2.8 12v fwd. i was lookin at craigslist today and found a block for a 1.8 bored 40 over to a 1.9 for 300$ and it got me thinkin, if i were to put together a 1.8t and stick it in my fwd a4 will it be worth it or should i just scrap the whole idea and upgrade cars

 

not really worth it man, just sell the 2.8 and get a 1.8t

 

i would think it would be too much of a hassle and suggest just selling it and buying a 1.8T. o and get a quattro this time.

 

You are sure it isn't the block from the 1.9 tdi right? If so, and the block already has the machine work, it would be a fun project for a bt. You would already have the 2.8 tranny and the swap wouldnt be that hard. I believe the fwd bell housings on each tranny are the same...at least I know the quattros are.

 

ya the guy says its a 1.8 bored to a 1.9 so im guessin its not 1.9 tdi. well i would be very interested in doing this but i just dont think i would know where to begin, if anyone wants to help inspire a 12v owner to do a 1.8t swap plz send me sum links to get me on my way. if not tell me some good reasons for not doin this. thank you.

 

the money you would be spending to do this would easily cover the difference between selling your 2.8 and getting the 1.8tqm and a chip+ DV. no hassles.

 

its going to cost you more money to conver your car, you could sell your car and use the money that you would use to convert your car to buy a newer nicer 1.8t with less miles and its stock that way not a mess of conbine 2.8 1.8 stuff
