ticking sound?
Might be the cam chain tensioner and/or chain. Mine makes some noise, but rattles/resonates pretty bad around 2500-3500 rpm when the engine gets hot. I took the valve cover off yesterday to see if there was any signs of wear, and didn't find any. From what I heard it might be better if the dealer does it if it IS the cam chain tensioner. Hope this helps.
i still dont know...........a friend of mines with a lexus gs had the ticking. He got his timing belt fixed and its ok now, can the ticking sound be the sign of a timing belt? lol im at 84k now, still have had the time to do the belt
its not your pistons hitting your valves. thats ridiculous. however, look into changing your oil (and using SYNTHETIC) and make sure you use the highest octane gas you can buy. if that doesn't fix your problem, then check into the timing belt.
if your pistions were knocking against your valves I have problems believing that your car would still be running.
