Default timing belt on a 2004

Just got a used 2004 A4 1.8T CVT w/o quattro with around 54k on it... Before I bought it i had it checked out for any engine flaws or anything like that and it turned out clean. The audi dealership did say though that the timing belt will need to be replaced at around 60k... for those of you with the same model as mine, how accurate is that? I heard that not replacing the timing belt and having it snap causes major problems, so I just wanna make sure that never happens.

Thanks.

True that. I'm almost there and I'll def have to have it done or spend what I think would be a weekend doing it. Would be my firs major break down. I'll probably wind up either being lazy or just pussying out and bringing it to my mech to do it. It should def be done around 60K. That thing rips and your up shts creek without a a paddle.
