Timing Belt Tensioner
If a dealer sells a part that has been deamed defective they are responsible for that part. When they sent me a notice about the timing belts in 1.8t's and I brought the car in it had 76,000 on it. They said my belt and tentioner were both fine and it would be able to make it to 90,000, if not they would be responsible the service advisor told me. If they sell you a part and the part is defective (hence the updated part number) they are responsible, if they try to tell you otherwise they are asking for a lawsuit. Toyota is going through a similar problem right now.
they said is the question ( do you have that in writing ) if not its worthless, who said it was a deemed defective- no one can predict how long the timing belt will last even if it were new, the tensioner on the other hand if you could prove it was the older type fitted by an Audi dealer ( which I doubt ).
If a dealer sells a part that has been deemed defective they are responsible for that part very doubtful they would sell it
