Tinting Questions
Ok so it seems like no big deal if I get it done now in the cold weather, just let the car sit in the sun a bit extra.
On to the next question, which tint does everyone recommend?

I am going with a place that is 3M certified or whatever and the bubbles shouldnt exist if it is done properlly and leaving it in the sun is not necessary! Do not I say DO NOT rush the people to finish your car in an hour or two leave it there for the whole day because you want a proper job done....any place I went to they added a $50 dollar charge becauuse it is a luxury car, and they wanted the extra money because the car needs to be in the bay longer than usual cars. Find some places and ask about warranty I cant emphesise enough on this! My buddy paid the same price and didnt get warrantied than a year latter his freakin tint went purple and it looked like **** asked for the "smoked" tint which is the black and go with this stuff called HP... It has a whole bunch of additional crap sprayed on to protect from uv rays and not interfear with your bluetooth and phone signal as well as radar detector.... apperently its a great feature I didnt even know it went that deep into it but hey the crappy stuff isnt all that much cheaper only by like $150 but I rather pay a bit more for a proper job I'll post up pics whenn I get it done if you want!
personally i'd go with 20% all around, its dark but not too dark so it looks very clean. Also, make sure that you get an eyebrow, it gives the front end of your car a completely different look, you only need about a 4' eyebrow from the top of the windshield. The lowest quote i've gotten on my car for all 7 windows, is 230 and the average is about 280, i have a 96 a4.

Idont think it matters, if i'm not mistaken mine were done at probably the same temperature. I think with that cold you cant open your windows for about a week or so.

Most places will have the car inside (especially in that weather) while they tint, so as long as the tint is applied in the warmth and can sit for a bit in there, you should be fine. And even though your car will be coming in cold when they start, a lot of shops use hairdryers to help shape the tint and get it to adhere, so that'll warm the glass as well. You should be fine.
As for the suggestion of doing it yourself, maybe the sides, but if you haven't tinted before, you're gonna have trouble with the back. If someone was offering to pay for my car to get tinted, I'd take them up on it and let it be done by the pros - tinting is easy, but tinting well is not.

I would definitely have your tint done professionally. I watched my friend try to tint his front 2 windows himself, and he reapplied the tint 3 times and was still not happy with it and ended up just ripping it off (it was the precut tint). The shop that did mine has a machine cut the tint to the windows measurements and then applied it all the way to the top of the glass. It was only $200, I think 400 sounds really steep for those that said they paid that much.
Yeah, $400 is pretty steep. We have a place here in town that does world-class sheet tinting and they get around $250 for a full car. The only jobs I've seen that looked better were super-high end shops that remove the glass from the car and dip-tint it, and then reinstall it (that's basically the same procedure that the OEMs use when they tint). $400 is pretty high - I'd shop around and I bet you'll find a more reasonable place.
Just got my windows done the other day, the rear 3 windows was $160 5%. wasnt too pleased with the performance its got a few bubbles. went to autozone the next day and bought a 9$ roll of tint. took me about 2 hours too do the front windows. i would do it myself if i was you. its extremely cheap and can look just as good if you take your time on it.
