Default Tip Transmission control module flooded

Two days ago I passed thru some minor flooding. (pretty common here in the phil) Then yesterday the transmission started to get weird so i took it to the dealership. He asked me if i had recently passed a flooded area and i told him yes but very minor. We looked at the passenger side floor area and it was soaked. He told me thats where the trans control unit was and it got wet.

My question is there a possibilty of any major damage and or cost once they clean and dry it out.
The flood I passed thru was really pretty minor but alot of water was pretty soaked, could there be a problem with my rubber seals in the door. Is this a common problem? I know in the states you don't really have much flooding problems but maybe some snow problems in some areas which should have more or less the same effect.

I have the b5. When I shift from park to reverse there is a strong shift shock. The response of the engine is alot slower than usual and the dashboard lights are "PRN321" all lit up, sometimes it even disapears for awhile then lights up again.

I read in the manual that its in the safety/backup mode, I think. If that is so, that is why the transmission stays in 4th gear and the shift shock is strong.

if u reset ur adaptive driving thing it fixes that - my tip used to be in 4th no matter what i did ...

shut off ur engine turn it to on (not engine on but electronics on) - step on gas - hold it down - turn key off (don't let go of gas) - u'll hear clicking sound s- then let go of gas peda

that fixed it for me

Thanks, I will try that the next time it happens to me.... Right now, i left my car in the dealership, they said they will fax it and clean/drain it out too.

When that happened to you, you didn't have to replace any parts? I guessing my rubber door seals have a leak where the waters seeped it, those have to be fixed and checked.

well i never got flooded - im taking apart my shift plate next week and checking to see if there's any spilt drinks // coins in there if not im putting it back in place and letting dealer take care of it

if ther's coins or signs of spillage - i gotta pay $400 to replace the tip board and sh*t

however im 90% sure its either a f*cked up magnet or a coin cuz after my car got jostled down a hill, the tip worked just fine

The transmission goes into a lockup mode and will only go into 4th gear and reverse. Hopefully the board can be rescued after drying out. If not you may have to get a replacement TCU either new which is $$$$, or from an auto recycler for about 200 dollars.

I was getting lockup due to ROM errors in the TCU and put in the GIAC tipchip which solved the problem AND gave me better shifting, but my unit wasn't flooded.
