Default Tire Size?

I have 205/55 16s and I can get a nice set of 225/55 16's. Will they fit with out any problems ?

They will fit fine. I think the sidewall is a little taller than the stock size, if you can get 225/50 that is the same size as stock. Thats what I did and everything works like it should.

The 55's will result in a bit more than 3.5% change in overall gearing and speedo error. About 2 mph error at 60.

Thanks for the info on the speed error, now is that 2mph faster or slower? So nothing will rub even though I'm lowered 2 inches?

The tire is bigger, so at the same wheel rpm you will be going faster than before. Whenspeedo reads 60 mph, the cops radar will say that you're doing 62+mph so be aware. Verify with a mile marker and stop watch.
Can't speak to the physical fit, just ran the tire dimensions and rolling radius calculations out.

That's really not much of a physical change in size, so you most likely will not rub - these cars look like SUVs with their ground and wheelwell clearances. I'd think you'd have more of a chance of the wider tires rubbing as you turn the wheel, and you may not be able to to turn quite as tightly at the steering lock, because of the wider tread. Most of the time when going to wider tires, you're jumping to a wider wheel with the proper offset so the steering clearance is unaffected. Doing so on OEM wheels, you MAY see a little less steering angle availability.
