Default Tranny worn out maybe?

I have a 96 a4 auto quattro with 70k on it, when i pull to a stop sign (or any quick stop) and put the car in 2 and start again it will sometimes (very rarely) rev up like it is neutral and then jolt all of a sudden like i have a manual and rev it up and let out the clutch? is this the computer being confused or a problem. today it was more serious as i felt a bit of a slip at like 4500rpm. I dont drive the car hard very much and the guy before me didnt (he said) either, what could this be from

change the tranny fluid and filter, the same thing happened to me and this sorted it.

one other good point is the auto tranny has a rubber gasket and it can be re-used

I would. What kind of fluid was put in and what kind of mechanic did it?

Check also for codes from the transmission control module.

If it was a german garage, they probably used the right stuff.

Is the transmission a tiptronic or just a regular automatic. and yes, you can get some jolt if you shift down into second at too high a rev. There is also probably some driveline slack.

It is a sealed unit. The car has to be on a lift and accessed through a filer hole that has a screw in seal.
