Default Turbo Issue

Anyone else ever run into this problem? My check engine light came on about a week ago and now my turbo seems to work sometimes and not work other times. You know how you can hear that turbo whistle? Well sometimes I can't hear it and i feel a decrease in HP. I got the checklight checked out and it said "Fuel too Lean" and I've been putting 93 in it since I got it. My friend thinks it's the MAF. Anyone?

I expect the car is registering a fault and going into limp mode (a safe mode which gives you very little boost, effectively a get you home mode).

Definately worth checking the MAF (in the UK they are available on an exchange basis which reduces the cost considerably). Do make sure you can return it if unfitted and be careful not to mark it when putting it in - if it doesn't fix the problem no point keeping it.

Hey thanks guys, I took it to my Audi Tech and he said he'd bet money it's the MAF. All I found was $300 to $400 MAF's on the internet. GregC can you explain more about this exchange program?

check out ECS Tuning. They have cheaper ones. Also Audi sells a remanufactured one for like 80 bucks.

I had a CEL for my MAF, after researching and all the help from this forum I found a MAF for $90 bucks on ECS tuning. Replaced it tuesday night myself and my cars running great. A little research saved me $350 after the dealer quoted me $440. Hell yea!!!
