Default A6 2.7 Turbo Issue

I have a 2001 2.7T with 90,000 miles and the turbos went out. Has anyone had this issue and how much did it cost you to get it repaired?

How do you know both your turbos are dead? Are you certain? We would like to hear more on this.

If so, search turbo replacement, blown turbo, bad turbo...etc and you will find a plethora of information.

It is a very time induced process to replace turbos. The engine needs to be pulled and time is money.
Ball park $5-7k

How do you guys blow turbos at such low mileages? I have turbos pulled from cars with over 225,000 miles on them and they are still tight. What are you doing?

I think my mechanic said 20 hrs at $70 per. Plus $1k ish per turbo for KO4's. So 3400 plus. But don't know cost of KO3's and stage 3 would require other parts

I'm not looking forward to turbo failure (currently at 143k), but if it happens and the the body and drivetrain are still in excellent shape, a stage 3 kit will cost around $5k plus installation. That ups the hp from 318 to 400-450. Here's just one site I googled....

If you shop around a piece your own kit together stage 3 can be done for 4k, if you are mechanically inclined it only takes about 4.5 hours to pull the motor, another 2 to remove and install the turbo's, with correct torque specs. Another 4 hours to put it back together. If you are using a shop then depending on location expect labour to run you 1.5k to 3k. I am not sure of your budget, but if you are taking it to a shop, check the forums for advice on a good indy that has experience with the 2.7t.
