Default Turbo whistle again?

I just recently implanted a new turbo into my 97 1.8T (still K03). before i did that i noticed a slight whistle comming from the old turbo and noticed a drastic loos of power thus realizing that i needed a new one... however i just got one as of 1k miles ago and there it is again. i hear that darn whistle again but i seem to have the same amount of power as i normally have with a healthy turbo however i just had a cat. issue and it needed to be re-welded back together and i am now noticing a fairly long miss between 2300and 3400 at 50% pedal. after 3500ish it seems to go away. both of these are not serious yet nor do i hope they will get serious. i am still in highshcool and i do not wish to keep borrowing money from my bank account that i am using for college. any short and easy answers please let me know.

thanks

Just guessing here but could it be the diverter valve? Do you have a boost gauge? That would be a good thing to have when diagnosing issues with your turbo.

probably is a diverter. go get a forge diverter and put it in. you'll need one down the road anyway. I had the same thing. Did you keep your old turbo? check for chaft play and slop. if it does not have that then the turbo is still good.

1. Check the DV.I'm 80% DV is damaged/broken

2.Check your turbo hoses, just in case

1. Get rid of the BPV and get a normal DV.

2. Your turbo is supposed to whistle, well its more like a Hissing sound mixed with a whistle i guess. . Its the sound it makes when it spools.

3. I dont know about your power loss. Do you have a boost gauge? If not get one and then get your codes scanned.

do you hear this turbo whistle/hissing sound inside the car while your driving? also, is it ok if you hear it when you press the gas and hit 25mph or so and continue to hear it while you press the gas (and stay above 25mph or so)? I hear like a faint whirring/humming noise that sounds a bit high pitched...

thanks...
