New to forums, curious, why would you clear the error codes? would that tell the dealer that your car is/was chipped?

I bought an 05 A4 ultra and am thinking about going APR directport by still questioning whether or not it would cause problems at the stealership here in Sacramento, CA (Niello) If you switch back to stock mode, would you recommend clearing the codes as well?

thanks,

it wasnt a big difference to me when i had the trial and i know the trial is toned down but still when i look back i wasnt that impress and maybe thats why i never got chippeed
When I first got my GIAC on my b5, I was a little dissapointed. You could only really feel an extra short burst of power in first and second. After about a week though my ecu had adapted and it was very noticeable. Also, if you get chipped in the summer, and you don't have an FMIC, the car can get heat soke quickly and you will hardly know your chipped.

yup

I hate heat soak..

Where I live in the summer, heat soke happens instantly. Almost makes you want a N/A car because its really hot like 8 months out of the year.

I've been paying close attention to error codes to see if the chip had any negative impact on the car. I was concerned that switching back to stock mode would cause some problems, but everything checked out. The only way the dealer could tell that I've upgraded is to look at the DV. The 710N is visually the same as stock, but the crappy factory hose clamps have been replaced with regular clamps since you can't remove them without destroying them. I doubt they would even look unless I was in for some big engine problem, and only then if they would rather bust me than get Audi to pay for warranty work.

No problems with the dealer. Pulled over a block away from the dealership to switch back to chipped mode - needed my fix :-)

Some of us pay cash and others pay with credit

Two basic ways depending on the age of your car:

- Direct Programming. They plug into your OBD port and download the software
- Soldering. You send in your ECU and they remove the factory chip and solder in the upgraded chip.

People have their own favorite chip vendors - see many previous appends on this forum.
