upper control arms
control arm clunks and tie rod end clunks sound very similar...the only difference i noticed is that the tie rod end clunk is more consistent, whereas the control arm clunk only occurs at specific speeds, and is also slightly quieter.

thanks for the info. i have a right front end thump, that i thought was cured by motor mount replacement but the noise it has returned.
now i also have very un even tire ware on the passinger side. the inside most tread of the tire is worn much more than the rest of the tire. that is usually a tie rod end, isn't it? the rest of the treads are worn progressively less as u get to the outermost tread.
just want to be somewhat sure b4 i go to repair.
i always hear the noise when pulling out of driveway with wheel turned mostly when on the apron of the driveway right b4 u get onto the street.
