vac leak?
I just started my car up today and there was a high pitch whine coming from the engine bay and as it idles there is a fluctuation in rpm. I went out to the car and tapped the gas (about 500rpm) a few times and it stoped then as i go back in to warm-up it starts again.[:@]No code yet im thinking vac leak. What are your thoughts?

did you pop the hood to try andpinpoint where the high pitch whine is coming from? Doesnt sound like a vac leak. I hate to even suggest what it might be.

It just stopped but im sure it's not gone. I just hope theproblem willhold off for just a bit longer till it gets somewhat warm out.

RE: vac leak?
Ya but it was a little premature for me to actually say it. Could be a noisy water pump from the cold or any bearing that might become noisy from freezing temps. But if its affecting your idle, then I would suspect something like the turbo. I dont think vac leaks cause whining noises no matter where the leak might be. Might want to take the turbo inlet hose off and try to wiggle the axle just to be sure if it happens again and you are stumped.

RE: vac leak?
Good idea.
Car runs good, I was crusin in 4th gave it moderatethrottle and was holding10psithen dropped the hammer and held 18psi. No strange noises or weird reactions. The sound i was talking about sounded like a pinhole air leak kind of like a tire with a nail in it. Not a constant whine.
