Default Vibrating Clutch - Any Ideas?

'99 A4 Quattro, 5-speed manual,114k miles. This past weekend my clutch pedal started to vibrate when I press it in. I can't seem to get a smooth transition between gears and especially from a stop. The whole car seems to vibrate while I startin1st. gear. It doesn't do itevery single time but more often than not. When I have it in any gear, stopped with thepedal depressed, it makes a noise likeparts are rubbing together - when I have it in neutral, with the pedal depressed, it doesn't make the noise.I was thinking I needed to replace the clutch anyway, but is this a master cylindar problem? Slave cylinderproblem? Hydraulic fluid problem? Clutch only problem? Any ideas? Thanks!

check the brake fluids. it really sounds like ur clutch is bad. i doubt the cylinders are bad. well they could be. the clutch slave cylinder is above the pedal i believe. and if ur doing the clutch y urself, u have a major PITA in ur hands lol

do you have to depress the clutch peddle to the floor to engage a gear? if yes then check the fluid level, it might need clutch system bleeding ( cough slave cylinder is on the gearbox)

No I don't have to press it all the way down to get a gear to engage. Just past the friction zone.

well that could be worn needle bearings/ warped flywheel/ or complete clutch, if it pulls ok then rule out the clutch, it sounds like the needle bearings but that's a total strip down ( input shaft vibrating ) that's a needle bearing thing and fit a new clutch if you have to go that far
