Guys is this normal. I get alot of vibration from the shifter when in first gear. I mean I know there should be some vibration but mine seems like it's vibrating alot. Maybe it's cause I just picked the car up today and I'm paranoid.

 

maybe the bushing has gone bad or you have some loose bolts to the chassis. Year/mileage?

 

1999, 77,000 engine was changed at 65,000

 

Then its probably a loose bolt. They would have probably dropped the entire shifter assembly as well. Im assuming it was a full motor swap (engine, tranny, shifter). I'd get under there and check it out. If its all tight, youre probably just paranoid or your bushing is bad.

I have the same problem with my car. I also have a replaced engine, which was done like a few weeks ago. Is replacing the boshing complicated?

 

If your going 1k RPM, and its vibrating then thats 100% normal.. and either way 1st gear isnt that smooth for 03 A4's.. Mine is perfect to my knowledge and my 1st gear sucks *** if i force it to sit at 5k RPM, shift to 2nd or accelerate fast through 1st gear, only time you should be in first is parking or going into a garage.. off a stop light etc.. 2nd can handle anything first can for normal driving

 

Note I dont see vibrating as a issue... Mabye if it were shaking then id be worried.. thats just my opinion
