wait, when you install fogs like that...they run all the time?
ORIGINAL: hiwords

no. our fod lightsonly turn on when the sidemarkers are on or the headlights. what i was talking about is to be able to turn the fog lights on and off without touching any other lights
You can have them run all the time without any wiring it is all programmed through vag-com! I dont understand why people just run wires for no reason! The fog's and the "hazard light's" or "side markers" are on all the time, if I recall properly from reading this somewhere :change the country setting from USA to Canada! We have to have DRL's(Daytime Runing Lights) on here all the time so that is the fix and audi has already implemented these! I can check further and probably do a write up if anyone wants!
are you doing anything different from this write up? See link

For the B5's I am not sure. But I have heard some people with a B6 trying to rewire the fogs independently! B6, and B7 can be done through Vag-COM I belive at least mine was done!

pretty straight forward ..here is the link

here is the information from the thread - not my car ..

Well here I am again on my first weekend home from school cause it's my brother's birthday. Anyways, decided to spend the afternoon in the shop where I can just relax with some tunes and work on my car.
This time I bring to you an HID conversion kit that I bought off of ebay. The kit is a 3000k kit which means the color output is yellowish (perfect for fogs to cut through any weather out there). I did put this kit in my foglights because I use them way more than my highbeams/brights and I already have OEM xenons in my low beams.
This project was not that difficult at all. I would reccomend it to almost anyone as long as you feel comfortable taking out your headlights/foglights and using all the tools and materials listed!
Enough with the formalities.
Tools:
Drill
5/8 drill bit (I used a wood bit, any should do)
Dremel and sanding drum attachment (needs to fit in 5/8 hole)
Screw driver w/ phillips head (for fogs) and torx bit (for headlights)
At least a 6" extension for torx bit to reach 3rd screw in headlights
Wire stripper/wire cutters
Silicone sealant (small tube)
Electric tape
Other Materials:
Wire connectors
HID conversion kit...duh..
Ready to work..

in this picture .. i just reinstalled the old wire harness clipand reconnect it .. i don't think you need to seal the hole ..

i didn't go that crazy with the seal ..

see this picture .. you need to clip off the old wire harness and then connect it to the new wire harness clip .. which plugs intothe ballast .. connect the fog wires to the ballast wires ..

end result .. if you need any help just PM me .. btw, you just need to be creative where to place the ballast .. i placed then on top section of the bumper ...and zip tied it for extra safety ..

its an easy mod on the b5. Pull out a relay, snip 2 pins and solder 3 together.

6000k is getting into the "Cold White" really really white
8000k is getting into the "Cool Blue" The light output is a bigger loss and its pointless to get these other than just looks and IMO it wouldnt look all that great if you have different colors of lights going from your warm white highbeams and than xenon /hid regular lights and into blue fogs!!! MIGHT AS WELL drive a christmas tree!!!!

10000k is purple pretty much somewhat blueish!!!

my 6000k lowbeams have somewhat of a blue color..theyre not completely white..i guess what your saying makes sense, different color lights would look awkward..but im thinking 10000k fogs would be a nice contrast to the 6000k lowbeams, no? also, i think different brand xenon conversion kits have a slightly different color..so does anyone know if the VVME 10000k cuts deep into purple? id like a deep blue, a deep purple would look ricer =/

personnaly i would stick with a uniform color somewhat and stick with the 6000k and it wont look like a honda LOL no offence man, just a little joke! Honestly i'd pick the 6000k
