Default Water temp guage

If I don't let the car warm for what I feel is a long time, the guage will never move. If I warm it, it works fine. I was told the sending unit is in the overflow. Is that true, I see what looks like it on the bottom and yes it has liquid in it. Is it the thrmostat? 99 `1/2 30v 2.8

none, I can still kind of monitor it with the oil temp guage. When the water temp guage works, it goes to the straight up position everytime. Matter of fact it is running great.

it doesnt sound like you have a problem really some temp gauges work like that, as long as the fan cuts in when its supposed to all should be ok also as long as heat is getting into the car is a good guide if no heat then there is a problem, if it ain't broke don't fix it

Amen brother, that's how I've been dealing with it. The little voice in my head say "just let it warm up some", but you know how that goes....

I had the same non issue on an older audi and I drove myself nuts with different thermostats and sensors. Finally decided to leave it alone and it was fine. A few weeks later, the fan switch went out. What are the odds?
