Wazzup with my second gear
i had the same problem and after taking it to about 3 tranny shops to check it out none of them found any thing wrong with it i found a broke vacum hose on the intke manifold it is on the front of the intake manifold torwards the front of the car i replaced that and proof it was much better i don't know what a vacum line has to do with the tranny but it took care of it. this was done on a 1.8t

I'm right there with you guys. 2nd gear is a bitch sometimes. From what I hear this is a common problem and that's just the way it is unless you get a new tranny, or that synchro thing.. what is that? Can someone explain more about it please?
am i still sleeping or did i see someone write 7 G's????
yyyyikesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
if i put another 7000 in this car i'll get the 06 model with no tranny problems
i think my bicycle is coming out of the garage this weekend

OK.
Im not sure if you people know how tranny's work but heres a brief overview.
Your gears NEVER seperate from eachother.. so you can never GRIND your gears.
What your are really grinding is the COLLAR. You move the collar with the shifter.
On most tranny's now there are synchros on the collar, what these do is as the COLLAR moves closer to the selected gear pattern the synchros start touching. this speeds up the collar to the same speed of the layshaft/gears. Old cars you would have to give the car some gas to get everything spinning the same , "double clutching"
the labor to replace a synchro is more than that to replace the tranny.

Most of my posts are pretty long. I dont have a lot of . "yea" "search" posts.
I feel that people need as much explination as possible, it helps you learn.
.... i know theres a phrase somewhere..
ah yea! "Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish he will eat for a lifetime"
kinda the same thing I guess.
