I left my blowtorch somewhere and need to get a new one, but you can get a cheap propane torch at just about any hardware store with the nozzle on it for like 10-15 bucks.

Also, you could try:

a longer wrench/breaker bar/piece of pipe over the handle,

Or a long socket / wrench on the bolt and hit the end of the handle with a rubber mallet to try and break it loose.

I dont remember mine being so hard to remove, but def. a torch will do the trick for sure.

Good luck, I know its firggen cold out there now, but at least you have a garage now!!

Yeah man, a torch is what you need. I took my car in to get an alignment a few months ago, it was taking forever so I poked my head into the garage. I saw some tech blasting my car with a torch and nearly crapped my pants, be he told me the tire rod end was frozen solid and needed to be heated up for them to do the alignment.

A six-pack probably wouldn't hurt anything either

oxy acetelene and you are good to go. I had to to a bunch of tie rods and heat is what gets them loose.

Ya its seized or something.. Im sure heat will work... I was turning on it so hard the whole tie rod (threaded part) was twisting and flexing-just wouldnt come lose. I cant wait to play with fire tonight! [sm=badbadbad.gif]

Pour penetrating oil on them 5 min or so before you reef on them again.
ya, like i said i pb blasted it, about once every 5-10 mins for almost 2 hours. I think heat is the answer.

SON OF A BITCH! [:@]
Ok I heated the bastard with a torch for a couple mins. until it was almost glowing, turned on it and nothing... Repeated the process 4 times and on the 5th try, the other end of the tie rod started to unscrew!! (Not the end going into the inner tie rod!) Now its stripped! The only way to get it off would be to put vice grips on the threads, but if what i have been trying didnt work, that will only strip the threads. I am completely STUCK! I cant believe heating it up didnt work!!!! The tie rod end is still in one peice and everything so i just hooked it back up, and it is driveable, but the alignment isnt right. My right tire is turned in a little to the left while my left tire is straight. Not very noticeable driving, but im sure its terrible for my tread. I am either going to beg acetrebo and arif for help, or take it to a shop. Im affraid, and guessing that if i take it to a shop, they wont be able to get the tie rod end out and will want to replace the inner tie rod to get the outter/tie rod end out. Here is a pic of what im talking about:

That sux the big one - if it's stripped, you could potentially still re-thread it...? Definitely interested in reading the outcome - good luck bud

I think im just going to suck it up and take it to a shop tomorrow morning. I really hope that they find a way to get the tie rod end out without having to take out the inner tie rod though.... I will kill a bitch if i have to pay much labor or for part$ [sm=shootshoot.gif]

I know... I cant even believe i just said that.... It goes against everything i stand for... Oh well... When your fucked, your fucked-and i wont be too proud to take it to a place who may have better resources or methods to get it right. Im going to suggest to them to cut the end of the tie rod end off, cut a"+" into the end of it and use a phillips screw driver bit with their air tool and turn the torque WAY up. Thats the only other thing i can think of on how to get it out... And I dont have a good hack saw or have air tools. After i put my exhuast on i had it welded at Monroe Muffler, and just for the hell of it i asked the dude how much he'd charge to do tie rods if i supplied the parts and he said $100 including alignment. Im going to refresh his memory tomorrow cuz thats a pretty good deal.
