I don't know exactly what is going on, but all tierod's are right and left hand thread (one side is right and the other is left). Are you maybe doing the left hand thread side?

Not sure exactly what you mean. Righty- tighty lefty- losey any way you look at it. The only side I have attempted is the passenger side, and I can get the lock nut lose (lefty-losey) so the tie rod should unscrew from the inner TR in the same fashion. I dont see how it could be any different for the drivers side because all TR ends are the same, there is not a designated TR for the passenger side or drivers side. So I dont get what you are talking about "right and left hand thread."
Anyway... 3rd time is not a charm.. I held the damn torch on it for more than a couple mins this time and still nothing.. I have to be carefull of the inner TR rubber boot-not to melt it, like i sort of already did... This is the sloppiest worst luck DIY I have ever attempted... Im ashamed...[&o] I thought this was going to be easy!

no no the tierod you are trying to get off is proly the left hand thread one *gasp* that means you have to turn it right to get it loose. They have to make tierods opposite so they can't back themself's off.

You sure about that?? No where have I ever read about that-and why would they use a locknut? Why when i turn the lock nut left does it losen? Why are the new tie rods i got threaded the same way (righty tighty)? Dont you agree that if what you are saying is true, they would have to sell "right side only" or "left side only" tie rods?? Are you sure you arent thinking about the inner tie rods? Are you 100% positive that your theory pertains to Audis? Sorry for all the questions, but what you are saying doesnt make sense? I would also think that if there were any reverse threads it would be mentioned here
Plus, I cant find any info on reverse threads on tie rods in the search here, audiworld, or audizine..
