What is the "Immobilizer"?
Hey
Where is the Immobilizer on a 2000 Audi A4 Turbo Quattro with an ATW Engine? What exactly is the Immobilizer and what does it do? How do I turn it On or Off?
The reason I'm asking is because I have this issue https://www.audiforums.com/m_500337/tm.htm and so far I couldn't find a solution...

RE: What is the "Immobilizer"?
The immobilizer is a part of the theft deterrent system and ensures the factory key is being used to start the car instead of tearing out the ignition switch to start the car. If the key is not programmed or the car is being stolen without the keys it is nearly impossible to stealand it won't start, it will just turn over. There is a ring that senses the key programmed to the car and allows it to start which is located around the ignition switch. There is also a computer that operates the immobilizer system usually located behind the dash and for anti theft reasons requires everything to be take out right to the firewall.

RE: What is the "Immobilizer"?
Thank you!
Well me and some buddies replaced another buds 2000 Audi A4 Turbo Quattro Manual Engine and the car wont crank when turning the key... it only starts when you start the car by connecting the two Starter connectors together... The car runs for a few seconds than shuts off.
How can I DISABLE the immobilizer?
