Default What to expect when buying a CPO???

Hi

It seems that Audi has me by the you know what and it seems if l want an extended warranty l have no other choice but to go with a dealer.

Now the question is what should l expect as far as the following;

1) the overall condition, dents, dings and scratches?

2) the overall condition of the inside, seats carpeting and and convertible top etc?

3) tires wheels (road rash) etc?

4) brakes, rotors etc?

If l am going to be paying top dollar shouldn't l expect an Audi in pristine condition?

5) If the car is a CPO how do l know that it was really gone over by a tech?

6) And besides asking will they tell me if it was in an accident or had any paint work?

7) I will of course get a CarFax but a Carfax can only tell me if the accident was reported and if it was reported did it get into their data base.

8) And l will have a Vin# check.

Thanks

Alan

Default RE: What to expect when buying a CPO???

Hi there!

This is my first post, but I have some info for you. I had been looking for a CPO Avant for a few weeks now. I have seen and driven probably 7 or 8 of them, and I have not been impressed with the condition of any of them. Expect to see scratches, road rash, and stains. I have expressed concerns about the mechanical condition of a car whose owners have allowed it to look the way it does, but I hear the same thing over and over from the dealers; "It IS a used car". None of my vehicles have ever been in as rough shape as some of the A4s I've seen.

As far as I am aware, a car cannot be CPO if it has shown any signs of being in an accident. I have heard that a third party certifies the cars, and that tires, brakes, etc have to have at least 50% tread, etc. Theoretically, a CPO Audi should be in like-new condition, but I find this isn't always the case.

I have, however, found one that was pristine. An 03 with 34,000 miles. After seeing all the junk that was out there, I knew to ****** this one up.

So, keep looking. The nice ones are out there, but you have to look at everything, and when you find one that you are happy with, buy it right then.

Good luck!

Laura
