come on audi you put the 3.2 DSG in the A3 why cant you put that bad *** motor in the A4?

 

i have just been informed that the new b7 A4 will have the new 3.2l along with the new 2.0l turbo

 

I read in this months Motor Trend that the DSG has not been completely designed for the transverse engine as of yet. Either that or they just don't want the expense of certifying 2 transmission types in the US.

The A3 has the 1.6L, 2.0L FSI, or the 3.2L V6 engines in the US. Not sure if they are bringing in the TDI engines to the US or not (the 1.9 and 2.0). The DSG is only available on the 3.2 or the 2.0 TDI models of the A3.

I believe myself it has something to do with the Quattro. I don't think the A3 with DSG has quattro yet, and is still being perfected.

The A3 models with DSG available in Germany is:

"A3 Ambition 3.2 V6 quattro DSG"
"A3 Ambition 2.0 TFSI DSG",
"A3 (all models) 2.0 TDI DSG",
"A3 Sportback Ambition 3.2 V6 quattro DSG",
"A3 Sportback Ambition 2.0 TFSI DSG" and
"A3 Sportback (all models) 2.0 TDI DSG"

So both available with and without quattro.

As for now only the A3 and TT has this feature, the new A4 will not

 

US market not get the A3 then?

 

It will be here, but only the sportback version, not the 3 door.

 

the new A4 does have a 3.2L V-6. its only .4 sec faster than the 3.0L though. the Turbo will be a 2.0L which gets 200HP. the 3.2L will get 255HP. With the new G3 coming out in march, the 3.0L will get 325HP with stock pipes and everything.

 

.4 seconds is a big difference
