will my motor hold the gtrs kit????
Whats up guy, i bought a 99.5 a4 from a local auction. the car was a 1 owner who from the looks of it too good care of it and only installed quality stuff on it, like h&r coilovers, k&n intake, etc. My question is the motor has about 160k on it, do you guys think with this mileage it will hold the gtrs kit without blowing on me? I got it checked and was told the timing belt looks as if it was done already and the motor look pretty desent for the mileage. im guessing alot of it was highway miles.
rods arnt really needed with an elim kit....the extra lag assures that. But definatly get a compresson test and see whats going on first. If its low, then get some new rings and rods (since your in there) and then get a real turbo that will spool and make power.
compression check, will do asap, as for power im not really trying to make a race car, i just want about 280whp and ill be happy. The girlfriend drives the car sometimes, and i don really wanna imagine her driving a 350whp a4. kinda nerve wrecking [

If you want it to be more streetable, get the gt2x. Barely more lag than a stock turbo and will make tons of torque. This will give you more power 3-5k rpms were the laggy gtrs would just be waking up. Also remember that a gtrs is based on a gt28rs, but is far from. The real garrett 28rs will spool faster and make way more power.
Both are custom ATP turbos. The gt2x wont have the extra lag and will make plenty of torque. Should be a nicer car to drive unless you want to tell people you have more hp. With the extra lag the slim gives, the tq level is low on the gtrs
