Default Window Lifter?

Hi All,

First time poster. Great forum you have here.

Wife has an 03 A4 1.8T that just turned 51,000 miles. Since the warranty expired a month ago, We have had to replace the crankcase check valve and now the drivers side rear window lifter is broken and the window wont go up now(I can pull it up, but it slides back down...). I tore the door apart and can see the problem. Anyone know where I can find a new window lifter? Its just a piece of plastic(appears to be anyways...) and the dealer wants $150 just for the part, plus another 250 to install it. Im hoping I can find the part for cheap, otherwise Im gonna bojack it and fix it with some metal so it doesn't break again.

Thanks for your help and advice.

Brian

Only place I can think of is Salvage yards in your area, I know ebay most likely wont have this part

the plastic bit fits in the slider on the bottom of the window its been known to come out of the rail hence the window wont go up, check if it has just came out but if broken off that too bad and only way is to replace the complete system and breakers is the better idea, you could consider making something to replace that part and bolt it to the part that has broken of as a stand by thing till its fixed
