Default Lifter noise

Guys I am new to audi just bought a used 2010 a4 with 61934 just went over 62k. Had the car for about two weeks.. All of sudden I hear the lifters a bit louder than what I think is normal while ideling. My question is, are audi usually louder than other engines, or should I look to getting an adjustment. I had an 09 maxima with 86k it wasn't as loud while idling as the the audi

I have a 2010 with roughly the same mileage, and I am curious about that myself...

Question. Are you sure it's the lifters? These engines are direct injected and have upwards of 110 bar (1,500 psi) fuel pressure which makes for noisy injectors. The high pressure pump makes some noise as well. Similar to a diesel. Most of the diesel "clatter" is the injectors (although they have way more fuel pressure than a gas engine).

The injection noise can easily be mistaken for valvetrain noise. My experience is, all direct injected gas engines (regardless of make) are kind of clattery at idle. Some just have better sound absorber covers on the engines. It's the sound of efficiency.

Aspen79 before I read your reply, I stopped at an audi specialist and he confirmed what you stated. He said a lot of people complaint about the loud noise. Thanx for your input!!
