Yeah Exhaust Leak!!!!
So I have an exhaust leak now!!! It is a small one though I think because you can only hear it when my car is cold. Once it warms up it goes away. I am actually really happy about this because now I can get a new exhaust system!!! I am going to get a TP and Magnaflow mufflers with custom 2.5 inch exhaust piping. Shoud sound pretty good. I can't wait!!!

ORIGINAL: what?
You can only hear it when its cold? What does that sound like?
Most of my exhaust leaks would whistle at certain rpms, never mattered if it was cold/warm.

Josh, my car does the same thing. It's apparent in the back seats, even when it's not cold.

If thats an exhaust leak count me in? I thought the high idle was just a car thing... I get a strange put put put sound (sounds like its near my manifold) when its cold too, but all goes away after a few seconds (15-30).
edit: You do mean that the idle is at 1000ish right after startup, then when warmed drops down to normal = exhaust leak?

No, stock exhausts aren't made for performance, they're made for quiet and convenient commuting. Your engine warming up and then dropping rpm's is normal, what isn't normal is the sound your exhaust makes. If it's abnormally loud of it sounds like it's droning, you have a leak.

yeah its loud as the car warms up. Once my temp gets up it will go away. When metal is cold it shrinks so it can create gaps. As it warms up it will expand and close the gap if its small enough. Either way its An excuse to get a new exhaust!
