hey guys i have a question
i bought a 98 Audi a6 2.8 quattro , the car has a nice sound to it when it drives
i was wondering does a stock 98 audi a6 2.8 quattro already come with some sort of stock turbo or something? my friend said audi a6s come stock with some turbo is this true?
what exactly is giving my car that sporty sound when i drive?
and whats the difference between a 2.7 turbo and my 2.8 quattro dont they bought come with turbo stock?

No the 2.8 is a NA engine while the 2.7t comes with a turbo.

If I read it correctly the 1998 does not exist with a 2.7t because it was introduced in 1999 not earlier.

na engine means it is naturally aspirated. To read up on it, check this link out:

I can't tell you if it is a good car since I haven't had the chance to drive your car or check it out but as long as you have not noticed any major issues it is probably a nice ride

Just remember you are driving an Audi and they cost some serious cash when it comes to maintenance and repairs.

 

That sporty sound (race car sound) may be from leaking flex pipe. Meineke or local muffler shop will help to detect where the leak is.

 

well i went to a mechanic a week ago and he told me i need a new upper control arm how much would that cost to repair
and when i bought the car the previous owner said not to really use the ac because there is a problem with the fan or something

my BIG concern is that its very hard to break i have to press the break very hard or far back to get a good stop the mechanic said the breakes are fine but i need a new upper control arm since the other one is going bad
can a bad uppper control arm make the breaks not work like they supposed to??

control arm kit ... maybe time to replace the kit instead of 1 fixed then another 1 pop-up

also find a garage specialized in Audi .... yelp.com -> automotive -> your area -> input 'audi' ... you can find shops more close to your by clicking neighborhood above the location box

In regards to your braking question: I don't believe that any of the control arms would make your brakes behave the way they do as you describe it. A new suspension and control arms will decrease the total time / length it takes you get to a full stop but it will not make your brakes harder or softer.

Check your brake fluid and the brake lines + pads + rotors. If everything is really in a perfect condition you might be looking at something more expensive. Check the easy stuff first though before worrying you won't believe what even "good" mechanics miss.

 

sounds like the brakes werent bled properly. for the control arms i would go w/ fcp groton. they offer a full 12 piece kit for about $250.00 if you get in on there on going group buy on audizine.com.

thanks for the help fellas, i found a shop for audis on yelp like bigdaddi said it has very good reviews. am sure its gona cost big bucks since good shops charge more then a average mechanic but ill see what they say.
