Any recommendations on where to buy a used or rebuilt c5 a6 4.2 transmission? Mine started slipping between 1st and 2nd gear. Changed filter and fluid but no change.

I'm not sure how good you are with a wrench but if my c5 a6 4.2 transmission starts to act up I'd rather rebuilt (and save) than buy a new/used one.

RockAuto Parts Catalog has a master rebuilt kit for 300$ ... "all you need to do" is get the old transmission out, rebuilt it, slap it back in.
