I have a 99 a6 2.8 quattro. occasionally it wont start. wait 4-5 hours then it starts right up. it doesnt turn over or anything. any ideas? thanks

could be a low battery, get it checked and try again.

 

Probably not the battery - If it is raining or damp when it dosen't start I'd change the plug wires. other wise I'd guess that you have a sensor hedding to Mexico.

 

When it does this, try to listen for the fuel pump running for one second at the rear of the vehicle with the key on, but not turned to start. If the fuel pump works, then try replacing the fuel filter. A badly plugged fuel filter may cause starting problems.
Old spark plugs, with too wide a spark plug gap may also cause starting problems.
You should also have you car scanned for free at a local auto store, if you don't have a scanner.
