There are a lot of people who can comment better than I can, but if you're looking to spend an additional 10k, well, you might want to look at an RS4 or something, but for an A6:

-K04 turbos (These are the turbos that are in the RS4 family. The push a lot more air than the K03's that came stock).
-RS4 downpipes, 710N Diverter Valves, Samco hoses, etc. (The additional stuff that comes with moving up to K04's)
-APR or GIAC chip
-High-flow fuel injectors
-Single-mass flywheel

Check out this: http://www.goapr.com/Audi/products/stage3_27tko4.html

If you want nasty and beautiful, there's your ticket to ride.

Good call. I would actually look into AWE-TUNING.COM on there Audi --> S4 --> section they have a full Ko4 upgrade with fueling and chip for about $5500. Not a bad deal. That with piggie DP'sfrom VASTPERFORMANCE.COM and their $80, 710n DVs.. All that with a $350 custom exhaust and maybe a few hose upgrades will get you to Stage III and you will be pushing about 400 to 450hp on pump fuel...

I would also consider break and suspension upgrades, but if you go the route stated above you will have only spent about $6500 and have a few grand laying around for all the goodies. There are seriously 50 threads about this very topic and if you search "Stage III" or "Ko4" you will find much better and more detailed advice.

^couldnt have said it better. It seems like the past few weeks have been dull around here. Mostly repeat threads... I have only been on here about 3 months and already board.

$10k ain't gonna cut it for a stage 3 upgrade. sure, you can build the motor up all you want. but, you're going to need a full exhaust too. you better upgrade the brakes. and, you've got to square away the tranny. AT can't handle the power w/out upgrades. stock MT won't last long either. so, you're well over $10k if you were to try to go stage 3 directly.

i'd go this route.
chip, dv's and samco or apr bi-pipe.
suspension and brakes.
exhaust.
tranny.
k04's and associated stuff.

that's the basic order i'm going. i'm getting ready for brakes next. just waiting until my rotors are done. exhaust as funds become available. tranny either when the clutch starts going or, when the k03's go out.

don't forget, audi's are NOT cheap to maintain. some of that $10k is prolly going to go to initial repairs. don't start doing upgrades until the car is running right in it's stock form. plus, you should keep a reserve for emergency repairs.

or, eff all that and just be on the look out for a stage 2 or 3 a6. get a ppi and save you all time, money and effort of having the work done and paying for new parts.

awe has a k04 kit for 8 grand then all youd need is a catback so you could probably keep it under 10 ... i priced it out for myself n it was well under ten ... you actually never want to look for a car that has been hooked up ... i bought and sold cars for about 6 years and 10 times out of 10 if a car is hooked up with all sorts of performance parts its being sold for a bad reason ... when i woudl look for cars if it so much as had window tint on it id walk away ... def dont looks for a modded out car
