Default 2.8 a6 recoding the engine to think it's an a4

I heard tons of talk about how changing the last code of a 2.8 a6 engine from 2 to 1, would make the car think it's an a4 and it would feel much more spirited when driving. I also heard about changing the tranny code to 00032 which is the sports transmission.

My question is, would I get the same effect (faster car response) if I only recode the transmission and not the engine? so basically, would the car seem livelier if I only recode the tranny or would it be better if I recode both the tranny and the engine?

Just do both! Don't be scared!!!!!!!! You would not get the same, the tranny code only lets you hold gear until redline, doesn't make it faster. What model a6 are you running?

It's 2000 and it's completely stock. I was really happy hearing about that and I hope it makes a difference. I heard that the recoding of the tranny to 00032 makes it both hold 1st gear, but also makes it more sensitive to kick-down since it's sports mode. But I'll do both.

Have you done it by the way, does it make a big difference?
