2000 A6 2.7T auto trans limp mode
We've spent close to a year bringing a near dead 2000 A6 Quattro back to performing. Lots of plumbing problems and P-codes repaired. The tiptronic trans starting slipping especially under power. This continued to get worse over the next 30 miles back to my buddy's shop, where it would no longer move. A while back I had the Audi shop run a complete scan. One item that showed up was an interna leak in the torque converter. The tech recommended to wait until it showed symptoms. My buddies and I replaced the torque converter. While refilling the tranny on jack stands, we noticed it would only engaged in the forward gears. Once on the ground the car was still acting the same as before the torque converter replacement. I heard about a limp mode but my center display has too many blank lines to read. The car sits at my local transmission shop, but he has little experience with Audis. I'm looking for help we are all stumped.
I've enjoyed the car in the short time I drove it, but I've invested at least what the car is worth in parts and my buddies are tired of working on it.
Thanks ahead, Pepere

Pepere,
Sorry to break this to you but you probably need to rebuild your transmission. You should start by making sure the fluid is topped up according to the book, but I wouldn't put too much stock in that working. You should seriously think about parting it out to recoup some of your money.
