Default 2000 A6 center console in dash, any solution?

My informationconsole (led square with gas mileage, gas warnings, etc) in the center of my dash has many of the LED lines not working. Not a big deal but annoying. Is it true that only the entire instrument panel (guages and everything) must be replaced to resolve the issue? I would hope there is a cheaper way to fix this.

Thanks!

that is going to be your only fix to the prob and it is not cheap. you can do what most audi owners have done and just dont look at it
sucks that audi will not recall it because they say it is not a safety issue so most audi's have this prob including mine..

good luck and if you do find a way to fix it with out breaking the bank let us know

Yeah, unfortunatelyit's true that the only solution is replacing the whole dash cluster. The part costs over $1,000 and installation is a bear. Just deal with it, then go spend the $1,000 on something else and feel good about it.

If you have access to someone with a VAG COM cable, you can do this without breaking the bank. Since your car is 2000, without the immobilizer, you can swap the clusters yourself. You can buy a remanufactured cluster at the dealer for about $800 including a$400 core charge that you get back when you turn in your old cluster, for a net of about $400.

The steps to swap out clusters can be seen here: http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec106.shtml
