2000 A6: Steering wheel Torx screws scary tight!
Hi,
I'm trying to (hopefully) solve an intermittent airbag igniter code by making sure all of the electrical connectors are clean and tight. This is the code I'm getting every few days:
00588 - Airbag Igniter; Driver Side (N95)
32-10 - Resistance too High - Intermittent
I already had the clock spring replaced by a mechanic about 15 months ago for this same code and it did go away until recently.
I disconnected the battery and then went to unscrew the T25 screws behind the steering wheel to expose the airbag, but they were so tight that I stopped out of fear I would strip or break something.
Can anyone confirm that these are normal threaded (counter clockwise to loosen)? Is it normal for these to be so tight?
Also, in other models I've heard of connectors for this circuit in a kick panel below the hood release that may be loose/dirty. Anyone know if that's true on an A6 C5 as well?
Thanks,
Dave
