Default 2000 Audi A6 2.8L limiter, tricks, chips....

Hello all. So yes, I'm new here (well a little new anyway). I just purchased myself a 2000 Audi A6 wagon with the 2.8L tiptronic of coarse. I must say, I am very impressed with this car for the price. It has 90,000 on it, runs like a dream (still plan on doing my full tuneup and service) and cost me $9,000.

So my questions for all of you experienced owners out there are...

Are there any chips or reprogramming tricks I can do to remove the united states restrictions built into the programming? I am very very happy with its performance but I am in a VW driving club and we do tend to take are cars to the limit every once in a while (legally). I simply want to be able to do as much as possible. I really don't agree with many of the limitations that the US has put on imported cars.

Are there any tricks I should know about with the computer, the tiptronic...hidden things such as resetting the transmission's memory by turning the key on and holding the gas pedal down for thirty seconds before turning it off and then acually starting the car.

I'm sure there are more. Does anyone know of them? Or perhaps have a link to a list of them?

And lastly, it literally just hit the 90k mark. I already plan on doing the following...

Timing belt and water pumps (already done)
Switching from synthetic 5/30 back to full synthetic 5/40
replacing the vacuum lines
water hoses
brakes and flush(allready done)
cabin filter

What are some troublesome or simply maintenance points I should be doing as well so as to avoid costly and dangerous damage later?

Oh yes and does anyone know a source for the side trim on it? The passengers door trim is peeling a bit in the center and I'd really rather replace both than try glueing the bent ones back.

Appreciatively,
Frankie

I would contact the fellas at VAST Performance as far as I know they are the only ones that have any interest in helping the the N/A cars in both tuning and performance. My friend had them make a file for his 3.0 car he looked for months and found nothing.

As far as the limiter I know you can raise the speed limiter but the rev limiter that would be a duel issue as you would have to raise the limit in the ECU as well as the TCU so that may take some time. I don't know how easy or hard that would be...I had enough of my auto A6 so I had them convert my car to a 6 speed.....

As for the trans you can recode the trans module in vag com. go into the transmission section go to adaption and recode 000032(Idon't remember how many 0's there are but thehole Idea is to switch the lasttwo digits to 32) thiswill allow the car to hold 1st gear longer

Welll I did alllloooot of searching and found this...

http://www.4induktion.com/catalog/in...21_103_120_240

As for the 1st gear shifting...I think someone already did that because it won't shift until I actually hit redline when I'm in tiptronic mode. And if I gun it in auto it will do the same. Its pretty cool.

I didn't know that was a modification though. My friend has the 4.2 in the same year and model and his shifts well before redline. He was pretty pissed to find mine wouldn't even try. Even if I accellerate slowly it will stay in first until I shift or it hits 7000 rpm.

Thanks for that though. I'll have to let him know.

Wow. Just watched your video with the manual conversion. Thats alot of work and from the looks of it...well worth it. Good job!

As I purchased the 2.8 though I just want a little better shifting. Its not fast enough to put that much time and money into making it a manual.
