Default 2001 4.2 Oil Cooler Coolant LEAK

I have read multiple posts on this issue (the plastic two inch pipe cracks over time or seals go out) however I havent seen a picture or diagram of the parts broken down. Does anyone have a link, etc they could send me so that I could see the oil cooler and that pesky little plastic hose? Again, I have been reading for about an hour now and I havent come across a picture yet (im sorry, I KNOW there is one on this great site but I seriously havent come across it yet!).
Thanks for any and all advice, help, etc on this matter. I NEED to tear into this project ASAP and get my car up and going again.

Thanks,
Chans

Hi,

I am not sure if this is same problem, but i experienced a coolant problem as well, i have 2.8L 2001 A6 Quattro. The problem was when you follow the hose from the coolant component you will see that the hose splits and that little splittler broke. Only way to fix is to put new splittler. I got from Audi dealer for 10 bucks but atleast it fit perfectly and havent had that problem since, mechanic there did tell me that its very common issue. I dont have pictures but if you post your pics from under hood i can edit it to show what i am talking about if its even same issue as you.

Good luck hope that helps you.

Hey thanks. I am not sure that the two engines have the same componets however, let me snap some pics and see if you notice the part. Thanks! and anyone else please feel free to chime in. I really REALLY want to tackle this issue ASAP.
