Question 2001 battery info

Trying to figure out all i can about replacing the battery in my 2001 a6 quattro.
Audi wants 330$ to do it, think thats a little high.
Are the rumors true about having to reset/reprogram? how do i do that? how do i get the battery out?!
any info links help..

I've disconnected my battery a TON of times without issue (2001 2.8). The only thing I end up having to reset is the one touch feature for the power windows (and I reset that by just rolling the windows down all the way, then roll them all the way up..). I've never needed my radio code or anything like that (but keep yours handy just in case...).

So.. as far as my experience goes, there's nothing special to it. I think it's the drive by cable cars that have the problem with throttle adaption after removing the battery (98-99/00?).

^Shows you how to remove the battery in the process of cleaning the drain holes.

I am betting you can get one a lot cheaper at Autozone or equivalent, and they will install it for free and use a little battery gizmo in your cigar lighter that will keep the system powered so you don't lose any settings.
