2001 catalytic issue
don't mean to beat a dead horse here but...
i inherited a 190,000 mile 2001 a6 quattro 2.8l from my uncle this year. as many have spoken about - i am in need of replacing my cats (left and right).
the computer has been flashed and updated. O2 sensors have been replaced and a smoke test has been performed. 4000 miles later the light is back and the verdict is in.
upon doing some research and shopping i would like to get your opinions.
oem is best but reeeeeeeaaaaaallly pricey as we all know. has any one done after market and what are the reviews.
brands available:
eastern
walker
bosal perf
catco
thanks
danko

Just replacing the catalytic converters will not be a permanent fix, since you have a high mileage vehicle. You may need to replace the valve stem seals, head gaskets, timing belt, various seals, etc. If you have the service records, then you will know what has already been done.
Get new Audi cats from Force Five in Concord NH. Most aftermarket cats don't like Audis ( or the other way around) Force five will save you some money (always good) and you can be sure the cats willwork correctly. 190K is just getting broken in so don't be concerned about all the stuff a6hcw lists. Just don't forget the timing belt when it is time.
